Would you like your loyalty program to sound like your store, not like software terminology? RewardsWP lets you rename your points so the experience feels intentional and connected to your brand’s voice.
This guide explains how singular and plural currency names work, where they appear, and how to choose a name that customers instantly understand.
Why Customize Your Points Currency?
The words you use influence how customers perceive value. When someone earns Stars from a café or Gems from a jewelry store, it feels like part of the store’s personality rather than a generic system. Renaming your currency helps your program feel familiar, easier to recall, and aligned with your brand’s tone.
Benefits of custom branding:
- Brand reinforcement — Your currency name becomes part of your brand vocabulary
- Memorability — Unique names are easier to remember than generic “points”
- Emotional connection — Themed names create stronger customer attachment
- Differentiation — Stand out from competitors using generic terminology
- Gamification — Creative names make earning feel more fun and rewarding
How currency names work in RewardsWP
RewardsWP uses two currency name fields to ensure grammatically correct messaging throughout your store:
- Singular — Used when referring to one unit (default: “Point”)
- Plural — Used when referring to multiple units (default: “Points”)
The system automatically selects the correct form based on the quantity being displayed.
Example outputs after customization:
If you set your currency to “Star” / “Stars”, customers will see messages like:
- You earned 1 Star
- You earned 50 Stars
- You have 750 Stars
- Redeem 500 Stars for $5 off
- +100 Stars from purchase
Configure your currency name
To set your own singular and plural names:
- Open RewardsWP → Settings → Points
- Locate the Points Branding section
- Enter the plural name in the first field
- Enter the singular name in the second field
- Click Save Changes
The updated currency name is applied across all relevant parts of the plugin.
That’s it! Once your currency name is set, the program behaves the same—only the vocabulary changes. Customers earn, view, and redeem rewards using the new name, and administrators manage balances with the same terminology.
