Feel very conned, it is not obvious that you have to have the developer package to have these addons, CUSTOMERS BEWARE
Hi Stephen,
I’m really sorry to hear you feel that way. It is never our intention to mislead anyone. We try to make it clear that the specialized add-ons are available to the developer license holders. You can see notes here, here, and here. If you have any feedback as to how we could make that more clear, I’d love to hear it. Again, misleading customers is never our intention.
The add-ons are highly specialized features and are provided as an additional perk for the higher-tier license holders.
I think it’s is clear which add-ons are free and which are not, as Tiffany pointed out. At least it was for me.
But what about potential customers that only have one site and don’t have plans for another site? For those people, paying for the ultimate and professional plans are pretty much a waste of money. Not so much misleading, but might make them feel like they are being squeezed for money, as I think Stephen is referring to.
I’d think, at the very least you could make the premium add-on’s available to be purchased separately.
Honestly, it’s the big thing that is keeping me from buying. Making me look at the alternatives.
Not trying to be negative, just some honest feedback from a potential customer. I am probably not the only one thinking this.
Hi Ron!
First of all, thank you for your feedback, we really appreciate it!
There are two things to keep in mind with the Professional license:
1. It does grant access to using the license on as many sites as you wish, but this is in no way a requirement. It is simply an added benefit of the Professional license.
2. It grants access to all add-ons. We do it this way to help keep things very, very simple and cost effective. Most customers that opt for the Professional license find themselves using 3 or even 4 of the professional add-ons (it’s very rare that only one is used). While we could certainly sell them individually, it would actually make very little sense for most customers to go that route because each add-on would be priced in the ~$50 range. Once the Personal license and 3-4 add-ons have been purchased, the price would be equal to or higher than the Professional, so we make it easy and package them all together for one, simple price. Remember as well that with the Professional license you get all current add-ons and all future add-ons.
I hope that helps!
I just wanted to pipe in that I just bought, installed, and had my affiliate program completely set up in less than an hour… and that includes me setting up the terms, faq, and graphics! It’s design and function is simply clean, organized, and clunk-free, a winning combination! I am so blown away by how amazing this plugin is and especially happy with the thorough documentation.
My program will officially launch in the next few weeks, and I am pleased to say that it rivals some of the top affiliate networks in the industry. Thanks guys! Ya’ll did an amazing job!
And just my two cents… I found it very clear which add-ons were free and which were for developer’s license holders only, so I think you’re spot on with that.
Excellent, so glad to hear it, Tiffany!
I have submitted two emails to the company so far with no answer. The only thing that is holding me back from purchasing is that I need to know whether I can use a PayPal Subscribe button as a payment method on my site. I can’t imagine that it doesn’t integrate with PayPal but this article is the first mention I have seen about PayPal. Please answer me before I get old.
Hi Glenn,
I’ve looked through our support system and I can’t find any emails from you, sorry. Are you able to send another one as a quick test, perhaps from a different email? http://affiliatewp.com/support.
A quick note: The PayPal Payouts add-on mentioned in this post is for paying affiliates. It is not intended for receiving subscription payments from customers or allowing the affiliate to receive a commission on each subscription payment by the customer.
You can use a PayPal subscribe button on your website to collect subscription payments from your customers, but it will only record a commission for the affiliate on the very first payment.
We have a recurring referrals add-on to allow an affiliate to receive a commission on each subscription payment but it does not support the PayPal subscribe button: http://affiliatewp.com/addons/recurring-referrals/
Ok, so if I buy the “personal” license for $49 I will be able to record sales from a PayPal Subscribe button, but it will only record the first month purchase and not subsequent payments. Am I correct that I can do this with just the personal license without any add-ons? Also, is this a feature that you will be adding in the future? It seems like this should be a basic level integration. Thanks!
Regarding the previous emails that I submitted, I was simply using the form that you have on your site.
That is correct.
Tracking of recurring referrals is only possible with the Developer license and the Recurring Referrlas add-on. That will not be made available to the Personal license, sorry.
Can you please tell me if the affiliate recipients of PayPal Payouts pay a fee on the money received? Thanks 🙂 And I’ve had no problem understanding or appreciating your pricing model!
Your affiliates will not need to pay a fee for the money received.
Thanks for the kind words!
