Affiliate Email Summaries is a feature that will send emails direct to affiliates that show how they’ve performed for the past 30 days, starting on the day the feature is fully activated (including setting up an SMTP or email service plugin, such as WP Mail SMTP). To be eligible, the affiliate must have an Active status and registered for a minimum of 30 days. After the initial email, they will receive a new email summary every 30 days. You can stop the summaries for a single affiliate from their Edit Affiliate screen, and the rest keep receiving theirs.
Once the setting is enabled, they will begin sending within approximately 15 minutes.
How To Enable This Feature
To enable this feature, navigate to AffiliateWP » Settings » Emails, turn on the Affiliate Email Summaries toggle, and save your changes at the bottom of the screen.

Requires an SMTP or email service plugin
Summaries go out to all of your eligible affiliates, so AffiliateWP only sends them through an SMTP or email service plugin, such as WP Mail SMTP, FluentSMTP, Post SMTP or Easy WP SMTP. Custom code that replaces how your site sends email works too. Summaries are never sent with PHP mail, the way WordPress sends email out of the box, because many web servers limit how many emails can be sent within a specific time period.
Once enabled, if your site doesn’t send email through one of these plugins yet, you will see a notice at the top of the AffiliateWP screens with a link to install and set up WP Mail SMTP:
Once your plugin is installed, activated and connected to a mailer other than PHP mail, summaries start sending. With WP Mail SMTP, that’s any mailer other than the default. If you use a plugin other than WP Mail SMTP, the setting shows which one sends your summaries:
If your summaries are paused
Earlier versions of AffiliateWP only sent summaries through WP Mail SMTP. If you turned summaries on while your site sent email through a different plugin, none were sent. AffiliateWP keeps those summaries paused, so your affiliates don’t get an email you weren’t expecting, and asks you what to do with a notice on its screens:
Start the summaries to send them through your current plugin, or turn them off. You can preview a summary from the notice before you decide. On the Emails settings screen, the setting shows the summaries as paused, with the same option to start them.
If summaries aren’t being sent
Turn on Enable Debug Mode in AffiliateWP » Settings » Advanced, then check the log in AffiliateWP » Tools » Debug Assistant. It records when summaries were stopped because no SMTP or email service plugin was found, and why a particular affiliate didn’t get one, for example because they registered less than 30 days ago or already received a summary recently.
